5 Easy Bring-Your-Own Eco-Friendly Swaps for Moms to Make in 2023
Eco-friendly swaps are finally starting to become mainstream, and I’m here for it.
There are hundreds of ways we can slow down landfill waste and protect Mama Earth. The options below are easy, sustainable swaps for on-the-go moms!
What Are Bring-Your-Own Eco-Friendly Swaps
Bring-your-own eco-friendly swaps are pretty much what they sound like: sustainable changes you can bring out and about.
1. BYOB – Bring Your Own Bottle
One of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint is to stop using plastic water bottles. This article tells us a whopping 1.3 billion plastic water bottles are used every day. That’s so much trash.
One-use water bottles are wasteful, expensive, and often toxic because the plastic seeps in to your drinking water. Yuck.
In exchange, using a reusable water bottle is good for the planet, your wallet, and your health. It’s a win-win-win. Find a one that you love, and use it (over and over and over again)!
2. BYOM – Bring Your Own Mug
As mamas we must treat ourselves to a pumpkin spice latte every once in a while (I’m basic, and I know it). But the only time I allow myself a Starbies, is if I bring my own travel mug.
Starbucks sells about 4 million drinks every day. That’s a lot of cups. Bringing my own mug is a small way I can reduce waste.
3. BYOZ – Bring Your Own Ziploc
Ziploc bags are so 2020. Make the easy swap to Stasher Silicone Reusable Bags.
Stasher bags are the latest and greatest thing. They can be used to stash anything and they’re dishwasher safe, making clean-up a breeze.
Eco-Tip: Bring them to Grandma’s house, when you know she’s sending food home with you.
4. BYOB – Bring Your Own Bags
We are often given reusable tote bags at conferences, functions, or Athleta.
I used to just have them hanging in a random closet because I didn’t want to throw them out, but also didn’t really know what to do with them. Now, they are all neatly nestled in my trunk for my many trips to Target.
It’s one of the easiest eco-friendly swaps you can make.
5. BYORCMPB – Bring Your Own Reusable Cotton Mesh Produce Bags
While you’re swapping your grocery bags, you might as well swap your produce bags, too.
Single-use plastics are responsible for a lot of landfill space. 500 billion plastic bags per year, actually.
Now, I use these and love them! I’ve also had dozens of people ask me about my reusable produce bags. Apparently, I’m not the only one that dislikes single-use plastics.
